These baby names are the frontrunners for Harry and Meghan’s second child
The speculations have begun – and we’ve already spotted a small tribute to Diana.
The Sussexers revealed just a day ago that they’re expecting a second child, but the bookmakers already have baby names in mind. These are the most popular names according to connoisseurs.
Most Popular Names
On Valentine’s Day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the happy news that they were expecting. The speculations of their second child’s name began right away. Most royal fans and bookmakers are betting on the name “Alfie” and “Alexandra”, says Alex Apati of the betting company Ladbrokes, in the Daily Mirror. So, the expectation that the first letter will be an “A” is high. Will our own three “A’s” be competing against the Sussexers?
Elizabeth, Philip, and Diana
Besides Alfie and Alexandra, there are a few other names floating around. Most of them are very familiar. For example, Charles, or Charlie. The name of the child’s grandfather is now 5 to 1, according to Apati. Elizabeth and Philip, after the future baby’s great-grandparents, and Diana, after Harry’s mother, has also been mentioned. The name is listed as being 10 to 1 and is therefore a lot less popular.
We don’t know when Meghan is due, so the results of the betting will have to wait til further notice. On top of that, there are two other royal babies that need names first. Princess Eugenie’s son is six days old and we have yet to learn his name. And the Queen is expecting a great grandchild from Zara Tindall, the youngest daughter of Princess Anne.
Tribute to Diana
While the chance of the baby being named after Diana is small, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already paid a small tribute to Lady Di, who also announced her pregnancy on the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day.
Congratulations from Buckingham Palace
After Meghan and Harry’s announcement, congratulations poured in from everywhere – including the royal family. According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, and the rest are all delighted by the new and wish the parents all the best.
